5. The Hallway

The statue was made by the famous sculptor Carl Milles, who had been inspired by Heidenstam’s novel “Folkungaträdet” which is about this mythological figure Folke Filbyter. This is a copy made of plaster. The real one is in Linköping, at the Stora torget (the great market place).

Here you can see two coats still hanging, the right one Heidenstam used on his long walks with Vapsen around the estate, the left one he used going by car. He never drove a car himself. He had a chauffeur, Hjalmar Sandell. His last car, a Chrysler Imperial, is placed at Motala Motor Museum.
